SHOPTALK

This Creative Ireland and Leitrim Heritage Office Project was commissioned in 2018 to be developed and executed in the summer of 2019.

This temporary shop served as an exhibition space for photograph and stories collected by Brian Farrell and Marese McDonagh (curated by Vanya), A specific library (books and video) around the topics of conservation, heritage, craft, design, planning and architecture, an activities space, of sign writing and mosaic design. And most importantly as a meeting place for discussion, collecting and sharing stories. A talk was held around the topic and value of Leitrim’s shops and their facades both aesthetically and culturally as well as social places and vital community space with Alison Harvey (Heritage Council) Dr Arthur Parkinson (UCD) and Architect Fintan Duffy.

Alongside the small publication a report of feedback and suggestions, other shops and stories will be fed back for further development and ongoing conversation with the community and heritage office.
